 William Henry Gates, most popularly known as Bill Gates was born on 28th October, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He is an American business magnet, software developer, investor and author.

He along with his childhood friend Paul Allen founded Microsoft company on 4th April, 1975 .

Microsoft corporation is an American multinational technology which produces computer software, consumer electronics. Microsoft is a combination of both 'microcomputer' and 'software'.

Bill Gates was the chairman, CEO of the Microsoft company from the beginning and he stepped down as CEO in the year 2000 by replacing Steve Ballmer. He is considered as one of the best known entrepreneurs of microcomputer revolution in 1970s and 1980s.

He continued as the chairman of the Microsoft until 2014 and in Feb, 2014 he stepped down as chairman of Microsoft at the times where Satya Nadella was appointed as new CEO. In March, 2020 Gates left all his board positions at Microsoft.

Since 1987, he has been included in Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people. He was also the richest person in the world according to Forbes during the time period 1995 to 2017 except 2010 to 2013
